Pattern Drawing Test: Can You Complete the Hidden Rule?
A pattern drawing test is not about drawing perfectly. It is about seeing the rule behind a row of shapes, symbols, or tiles and knowing what comes next.
How pattern drawing questions work
Most pattern questions are built around one simple idea: something changes step by step. The shape may rotate, grow, lose a line, change color, move position, or combine two rules at once. The challenge is separating the real rule from the distracting detail.
For example, if a triangle becomes a square and then a pentagon, the hidden rule may be “add one side each time.” If a dot moves from top left to top right to bottom right, the rule may be rotation around the corners. The best test questions hide the rule clearly enough to be fair, but not so obviously that the answer feels automatic.
Which shape comes next?
Triangle → Square → Pentagon → ?
Answer: Hexagon. The rule adds one side each step.
